Bentley Continental 2013 Major Service, Check Engine Light Diagnosis & Window Repair in Dubai

Bentely Continental

Symptoms Reported by the Customer

The customer had multiple problems before bringing the vehicle into our service, therefore the Bentley Continental required an expert evaluation.

The most obvious problem was the Check Engine Light on the dashboard. The consumer also reported that the side windows would not fully close when locking the vehicle. The car had been sitting for some months, so there were concerns regarding the battery’s health, the operation of the electronic systems and the condition of the car in general.

Common symptoms reported included:

  • Check Engine Light illuminated.
  • Windows are not closing fully when locking the vehicle.
  • Sitting in the driveway for months on end, unused.
  • Worry about battery health
  • Request for full diagnostic inspection
  • Service recommendation and repair estimate request

These symptoms are prevalent in luxury automobiles after being idle for long periods of time and should never be disregarded as they can lead to more expensive repairs if left unresolved.

Vehicle Collection and Initial Inspection

Our team arranged a free vehicle pickup and brought the Bentley Continental to our workshop for inspection.

Upon receiving the vehicle, our techs ran a full computer diagnostic check and also performed a physical inspection.

The customer originally wanted a Minor Service. However during our inspection we found the vehicle needed a Major Service plus a number of other repairs due to the vehicle being inactive for a lengthy period of time and wear and tear of components.

Computer Diagnostics Findings

After conducting a full system scan, multiple issues were identified that caused the Check Engine Light and other warning messages.

1. Engine Misfire Due to Worn Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils

The diagnostic report revealed engine misfire faults.

Further inspection showed that the spark plugs and ignition coils had deteriorated, resulting in insufficient engine power and rough engine performance.

Since the vehicle had not been driven regularly for several months, these components required replacement to restore proper engine operation.

Recommended Repair
  • Replace Spark Plugs (Original Parts)
  • Replace Ignition Coils
  • Clear Fault Codes
  • Perform Road Test

2. Faulty Angle Sensor

Our diagnostic equipment also detected an angle sensor fault.

This issue was contributing to warning messages stored within the vehicle’s electronic control systems.

Recommended Repair
  • Replace Angle Sensor
  • Perform System Calibration
  • Verify Steering and Electronic System Functions

3. Low Main Battery Voltage

During battery testing, we determined the vehicle’s main battery voltage was below the recommended threshold. If you don’t drive for long periods of time, your battery can deteriorate, which can cause several electrical issues and warning lights.

Recommended Solution
  • Changing the Main Battery
  • Inspect Charging System
  • Test electrical system performance

Window Closing Issue Diagnosis

The customer reported that the windows were not fully closing when the vehicle was locked.

After inspection, our technicians discovered that the window lift motors were not operating correctly.

The motors failed to complete the automatic closing cycle, leaving the windows slightly open.

Recommended Repair
  • Replace Window Lift Motors
  • Recalibrate Window Control System
  • Test Automatic Window Function

TPMS Warning Detected

While reviewing the vehicle’s computer systems, our technicians found an additional fault related to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The warning was caused by faulty tire pressure sensors.

Recommended Repair
  • Replace Tire Pressure Sensors
  • Program New Sensors
  • Verify Proper System Operation

Additional Engine Condition Found During Inspection

While preparing the vehicle for service, our technicians noticed excessive sludge and contamination inside the engine oil system.

The engine oil had become unusually thick due to prolonged storage and delayed maintenance.

Heavy oil contamination and sludge buildup discovered during inspection.

To protect the engine and improve lubrication performance, an engine flush was recommended before refilling with fresh oil.

Recommended Repair
  • Engine Flush
  • Oil System Cleaning
  • Premium Engine Oil Replacement

Why We Recommended a Major Service Instead of a Minor Service

A common question we get from clients is why a vehicle needs a Major Service when they originally asked for a Minor Service.

A Minor Service is usually fine for vehicles that have been serviced periodically and used consistently throughout the year. It includes engine oil change, filter check, fluid top-ups and basic safety checks.

However, we did see that a number of key maintenance items had passed their recommended service intervals on this Bentley Continental. The spark plugs were worn, the ignition system needed care and the engine oil condition indicated that the car had not been properly maintained for a long time.

This gave rise to the Major Service as the safest and most cost effective way to restore vehicle reliability and performance.

Performing only a Minor Service would not have addressed the underlying issues discovered during diagnostics.

Why Engine Flushing Was Necessary

One of the most important discoveries during our inspection was the condition of the engine oil.

When a vehicle remains parked for extended periods or misses scheduled maintenance, contaminants can build up inside the engine lubrication system. Over time, engine oil breaks down and loses its ability to protect critical engine components.

The contaminated oil in this Bentley had thickened to a sludge-like consistency, which can restrict oil flow and increase engine wear.

An engine flush helps remove deposits and contamination before fresh oil is added.

Benefits of engine flushing include:

  • Improved oil circulation
  • Cleaner engine internals
  • Reduced engine wear
  • Better lubrication performance
  • Improved engine efficiency

For luxury vehicles such as Bentley, maintaining a clean lubrication system is essential for long-term engine reliability.

Why Long-Term Parking Can Cause Problems in Luxury Cars

Luxury vehicles such as the Bentley Continental contain advanced electronic systems that require regular operation.

When a vehicle remains parked for several months, it can develop issues, including:

  • Low Battery Voltage
  •  Check Engine Light Alerts
  • Engine failure
  • Failures of window modules
  • Faults in the TPMS Sensor
  • Formation of Sludge
  • Electrical System Faults

So we always advise a comprehensive diagnostic check before putting a long-stored car back into normal operation.

Our Recommendations for Bentley Owners

Based on our experience servicing luxury vehicles across Dubai, we recommend that Bentley owners:

  • Follow manufacturer-recommended service intervals.
  • Avoid leaving vehicles parked for extended periods without starting them.
  • Maintain battery health through regular charging and testing.
  • Address Check Engine Light warnings immediately
  • Replace ignition components at recommended intervals.
  • Inspect TPMS sensors and electronic systems regularly.
  • Perform diagnostic scans whenever warning lights appear.

Taking preventive action helps reduce repair costs and keep luxury vehicles operating at peak performance.

Final Results

Follow the service intervals suggested by the maker.

  • Don’t leave your car parked for long amounts of time without starting it.
  • Make sure the battery stays healthy by trying and charging it regularly.
  • Take care of Check Engine Light signs right away
  • Replace parts of the key at the times suggested.
